Early-Career Researchers Training

This funding opportunity is available for early-career researchers (Master’s students, PhD candidates, or those who have completed their PhD within the last 7 years) affiliated with AND employed by a MEDAL partner institution (the University of Tartu, Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, Radboud University, or the University of Birmingham). The funding is intended to support attendance at the MEDAL Summer School, MEDAL Final Conference, or any MEDAL event abroad.

Applications are submitted via the online form and include:1

  • basic application form
    • name, etc.
    • affiliation (UT, MPI, RU, UB)
    • applicant category2 (MA/MSc, PhD student, Postdoc, other academic/scientific staff)
    • for ECRs with a PhD: date of PhD defence, time spent on parental or other relevant leave
    • specific MEDAL event which the MEDAL mobility funding is intended for (e.g., MEDAL summer school)
    • list of expected costs3 (travel, accommodation, daily allowance, other)
  • a short CV (.pdf)
  • letter of motivation (max. 1500 characters) indicating:
    • how the event is relevant for the applicant’s academic career
    • how the mobility is relevant to MEDAL’s goals
  • for MA/MSc and PhD students: confirmation of support from the supervisor (pdf)
  1. Application is ongoing and the decisions are made one month after submission at the latest ↩︎
  2. Priority will be given first to ECRs at partner institutes, then to other academic staff ↩︎
  3. The maximum funded amount is €1000 per application contributing to mobility costs ↩︎
