Richenda and Ashley, researchers from the Language and Cognition Lab at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg were delighted to have the opportunity to attend the MEDAL Summer School in Experimental Linguistics in Nijmegen in June 2024. Held at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and Radboud University in Nijmegen, the summer school offered an exciting mix of plenary tasks, poster sessions, lab tours and workshops. The summer school focused on four central themes: child language, multimodality, language comprehension and language production
Richenda and Ashley’s research investigates language acquisition and the summer school provided the perfect opportunity to share their joint study on analogical reasoning in children with and without developmental language disorder.

It wasn’t all work though! There was time to enjoy city tours, an evening reception to network with colleagues, a MuZIEum experience, and even a pancake boat ride on the Waal! You can read all about it in Ashley and Richenda’s review of the summer school which is published in the Cognitive Psychology Bulletin of BPS Explore (British Psychological Society).
