Virve Vihman is Associate Professor of Psycholinguistics and Deputy Head of Development at the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics at the University of Tartu. Her research interests center around morphosyntactic variation, cross-linguistic acquisition, youth language and bilingualism. She is especially interested in comparing variation and acquisition across languages, with a special focus on Estonian. She has been involved in quantitative and qualitative corpus studies and experimental approaches to acquisition.
She is the head of the MEDAL consortium and in addition leads the GoLD MEDAL work package, in which researchers across the consortium collaboratively apply corpus, experimental and computational methods to cross-linguistic investigations.
